New "HangAbouts"

Yesterday I posted a picture of the latest "HangAbout" that I had made for Kezzy.
Lots of folk left messages and emailed me so I thought I would make a couple more with the fabric I had AND also leave the link to the instructions for making them.

One is ivory with pink/red rosy design and pink lining. The other is pale blue with tiny pink floral design and pink lining.
All other details are over in the blog shop.

If you would like one then email me - twiglet517@hotmail.co.uk

Jo of Jozart has made lots of these and even put really brilliant instructions on her blog (yes - with photos and everything - very clear and easy to follow). If you want to find out for yourself how to do it then follow this link to Jo's instructions -

So thanks Jo for all your help - you are a clever, arty person - I hope we get to meet up one day.

WOYWW - fabric fest

Lots to snoop around on my untidy table and in just one corner of my sewing room today.
A real fabric fest this week too.
I have been busy with little "princess" dressing up skirts and cloaks and a knight's tabard. The gorgeous wool is for little shrugs - another little bargain.

I was given a bag of fabric so I took it out into the sunshine to sort, air and generally freshen up. Looks like lots of interesting bits and bobs there!
It included vintage patchwork, velvet and even a pair of Laura Ashley curtains.

AND lastly the little "hang over" I was asked to make. I love the blue flowery fabric and I think I have enough left over for one more - so, another little sewing job !!!!

It all keeps me out of mischief.
Like I have time for that!!
We are off to garden for daughter M today - well its another glorious day - what else would we want to do!!!
I will try to get over to see all your desks later. I am sure Julia will have lots to share with us over at her Stamping Ground today.
Have a good week!

WOYWW

No frocks this week folks!!!!
I posted my latest parcel of 30 to Louise, yesterday, and I am now busily catching up on all my other little sewing tasks.

On my table ready to go are about 100 little bunting flags ready to be sewn onto tape. They are for daughter M for a charity event. I think she wants about 30 metres of bunting!!!
In the bottom right corner you can see the set of cards with tiny patchworks which M made me for Mothers Day. I really love them. Thanks M!   She loves being crafty but rarely has time these days.

The pic below is my kitchen unit top, covered in my car boot bargains. Loads of lace and crochet edging, ribbon & braid plus a 3 metre length of pretty fabric. I have been asked to make a few more little dressing up outfits so the fabric will be ideal for princess skirts.

The lace and crochet looked wonderful after it had been soaked, steamed and starched!

Now I just need to think of a few projects to use it all up.

Just noticed today is March 21st - my Grandma's birthday - she lived to be nearly 101 and was a wonderful lady and probably responsible for passing on the "sewing" gene to me and Annie. She was a very skillful seamstress in her time, working as a young woman, with her older sisters, in Shrewsbury in the 1890s.

Thanks to all who popped in and commented on my last WOYWW post. I really appreciate it and it makes all the effort worthwhile.

I hope our good friend and blogging snoop queen Julia is feeling a bit less grumpy today - I had to agree with all she said in her post yesterday and then I thought - "well that's two grumpy old women then!!" So I will pop over and check her out in her Stamping Ground and join in the mad WOYWW blog hop.

Have a great week

WOYWW - countdown to 401!!

This is what I have been busy with over the last week.....

I have used up all the remaining pieces of fabric kindly donated by our friends, blogging friends and customers.
The mad total of little dresses for the "Dress a girl around the world scheme",  that Annie and I have made between us, is 401.
I think the pictures speak for themselves.

These make up the last parcel of 30 that I will be sending to Louise of Sew Scrumptious. She has been coordinatng the collection and distribution of the frocks - I think we are nearing a grand total of 1000 from all of her blogging friends etc .Update - YES! 1000 reached - click on Louise's link above to find out more!

Thanks lots to everyone who donated fabric and trimmings - we couldn't have done it without you.
I think it was Angie who said I was addicted - she was probably right! However, I shall be giving it a rest for a while. I have lots of other sewing jobs for friends and family so will be busy with them over the next few weeks.

Have a great blog hop everyone - I shall have a bit more time for visiting your desks this week.

WOYWW

A close up of the goodies on my table today ( what makes you think my room must be a mess!!)
Annie wanted some little cover ups for the twins so we worked on a pattern and then bought a few bits and bobs to make these. They have terry towelling on the back of the bib so should keep the tinies clean.
I have nearly finished the little sleeveless cardi for L.  Her big sister P. already has hers and they look fab. I just ran out of wool about 10 rows from the end so had to buy a bit more. Then, of course, I  was tempted to buy the gorgeous Rhubarb Jelly Been DK. It will make some lovely little summer shrugs.

These are the latest frocks for the "Dress a girl around the world scheme".  They were made with scraps left from all the other frocks we have made. They take longer to make because of all the gathers and seams but I like them don't you?

And lastly just a few snaps from my day over on the Welsh coast at Barmouth.
The sun was shining so we set off, driving across to Aberdovey, Towyn and Fairbourne. We parked the car and walked across the railway bridge to Barmouth. Such a fab day for the beginning of March.

Well that's it for this week - enjoy your blog hop - will get around as many desks as possible and look forward to seeing what you are all up to. Join in by calling over at Julia's Stamping Ground and add your name to Mr Linky.

Thanks for calling by.

Dress fest!

Tiny dresses for a little poppet!
Over the last few days I have made 4 little frocks for baby L.

A pretty sun frock.

A cosy pinafore dress - or two.

A little smocked dress.

And a cover up - its only a test really until I get the shape and size right.

I think she will be a smart girl don't you!!

I will be seeing her big cousins on Saturday -
I hope they would like something similar but bigger of course!
