Little dress update

Well what else do you do on a wet afternoon.!
I had cleaned my car, done the ironing and made a homemade chicken soup lunch so I reckoned the rest of the day was mine!!!
So here is the little dress all finished. I made it slightly larger than planned so that it will probably fit little L.
I have enough fabic left to make her big sister P. one too!!

Here is a close up of the applique.
I like the idea of applying them with Bondaweb and then free machining round them. Its quick and easy and each one will always be different.

I know, these days, children's clothes are so cheap that it's hardly worth all the effort but I enjoy the challenge and I suppose the pattern only used about 50p worth of fabric and a couple of pretty buttons.
Well worth the effort, I think.

WOYWW

Good morning all!!
Today, as you see, my ironing board started off as my workdesk. ( Please excuse all the blotches of glue and fabric paint!)
I  am busy with the little pinafore dress from last week's WOYWW post.
I decided it needed a little applique before I make a start on sewing it together.
Birds and flowers seem popular on tinies' clothes at the mo, so that's what I decided to do.
I cut the little shapes from scraps of baby dress fabric ironed onto Bondaweb.
All I did then was, peel off the backing paper and iron the shapes on  to the dress front.
Then I whizzed round with the free-machining.  Done!!
Below is the finished applique. Now I just need to get sewing to make it up. Its so tiny - 0-3 months so it should be done in an hour. I may add an update but I have a few jobs to do today as well!!
The car needs washing and I have a pile of ironing....... Mmm .. maybe I will sew first..lol!!!

Enjoy your day and I will pop over and see what you are up to thanks to the wonderful Julia who organises us all!!!

Blog award

Good morning folks!
The lovely Wipso has given me this little blog award today.
You all know Wipso - the little sister who can alter a wedding dress, put a zip in a pair of trousers, crochet a blanket, make a pan of chutney and tend to the needy, all at the same time!!!
She certainly deserves an award!!!
Me - I am just a "bear of little brain", who also relies on her for lots of support!! So, thanks Wipso I appreciate all you do for me too!!!

In turn I need to name three things that I like about myself and then pass this award on to 7 other bloggers. The choice of recipients is difficult as there are so many wonderful blogging friends to choose from.

Firstly the 3 things I like about myself...

1. I am very patient
2. I am a good listener
3. I like to laugh.

Well thats me done with.

Now 7 lovely bloggers to pass this award on to.......

1. Julia
2. Mandy
3.Spyder
4. Just Jingle
I have chosen you all because .... you are creative and produce wonderful things but best of all your blog makes me laugh!

The following bloggers inspire me with their wonderful artwork.
5. Michelle Palmer
6. Little Arty Crafty  Crow
7.Kayla coo

OK - so I will pop over and tell them all about the award.
Do follow my links to them if you want to see what they are up to.

WOYWW

 Happy Wednesday everyone!
The sun is shining ( well it was 5 mins ago but looks like rain now!)

If it rains I will be sewing, if the sun shines I am going up onto the hills to pick billberries.
So, here is my table today.

The little lavender shrug was finished yesterday and is now in our blog shop gifts section. They have proved very popular so I thought I would pop one in the shop.

Beside the shrug is a lovely piece of lavender babycord fabric which I am going to use for a little pinafore dress. I took a pattern from one Wipso bought, as it was such a simple design. You can see my funny little sketch.

Below are just a few of the photos that I took at Shrewsbury Flower Show on Friday. It poured with rain all day but that didn't stop us enjoying the wonderful displays of plants and flowers in the big tents.

Righto....
Sewing it is then, as big black clouds have descended on us.

Blog update:
I never got to sew or pick billberries as Wipso and I ended up in hospital with her neighbour!! Long story but we spent the afternoon keeping her company whilst she waited for assessment.
Oh well, tomorrow is another day!!
Hopefully, I will have time to visit lots more WOYWWers today - you are such a lovely bunch - I do enjoy my Wednesday snoop! If you want to join in, then nip over to Julia's blog and check out the 130+ blogggers who share their workdesk every week.

Beat the credit crunch!!

How can you tell we have had too may wet days????
Last week my daughter M. set me a challenge.
She bought a really cheap racer back T shirt from the supermarket and suggested that I add a bit of glamour to it for her. She had a smart one from River Island and decided that it was such a simple idea, she thought I should do something similar with her plain one.

At last, my carboot bargains have proved really useful.
I used some of the gorgeous lace which I bought two weeks ago and a neat little bracelet that I paid 50p for ages ago.

It took about an hour on a rainy afternoon and I think it was worth the effort.
What do you think?
I guess if M. likes it I shall have to run up a couple more.
Maybe I can extend the idea to a few different T shirt styles. I think I would like one but I don't think a racer style would be a good look for me!!!

WOYWW - a guilty secret!

Good morning all!!
Well -yes, I have to show and tell my guilty secret today.......
The pic shows the little cupboard which is behind me as I craft on my table. You know the table - I let you see that every week!!! But I don't usually let you see this untidy little space.
I don't really make cards much and I am certainly hopeless with papercraft. However, my daughter and I have a few card  making bits which sit waiting to be used on these glass fronted shelves. So here you are - snoop as much as you like - I am tidying it today so hopefully it will not be such a hotch- potch from now on.
Now really I need to get back to my sort of craft and get my embellishing machine going again.
Just a quick pic of my latest shrugs for Wipso's P. & L.
Now, if you want to join in the fun pop over to Julia's blog and see what everyone else is up to this week.
Thanks for dropping by and for all your comments last week - hope I can get to see a few more of you this week as I really enjoy seeing the lovely things you do and snooping round all that great stuff you have to play with!

10000 hits and another photo!

Goodness me!
My counter says I have had 10000 hits!!
Its fun day Monday so I had better get busy and have something to show all those kind folk who like to pop over and see what I am up too.

Another of my Powis Castle pics -
I told Wipso to get down off that plynth and stop showing off but she wouldn't listen!!!

Saturday 7 August 2010

Powis Castle and its beautiful gardens.

We were in Welshpool and decided we would have lunch and a walk round the gardens of Powis Castle.
A brilliant decision!

We arrived in time for a quick coffee followed by a leisurely walk around the wooded area of the gardens. The resident peacocks were grazing on the castle lawn.

Within two minutes I had spotted a pair of bullfinches feeding young. A perfect setting for them amongst the shrubs and overhanging branches at the edge of the path.

A family of coots were feeding on the pond, fish were jumping and damsel and dragonflies flitted across the surface.
In the cool atmosphere amongst the trees we could hear blue tits, robins and blackbirds carrying on their daily life.

I spotted a tree creeper and a nuthatch on the mighty tree trunks.
All too small and quick to snap unfortunately!

As we headed back to the main buildings for lunch we heard a peregrine falcon screaming overhead accompanied by two young ones!!!
Later we just roamed the beautiful gardens.
I suppose some of the flowers had gone over but many were still in full bloom and looking good.

I hope you like the photos. I will let them speak for themselves!!!

WOYWW in the rain!

Good morning everyone - a warm, wet Wednesday in Wales!!
My desk today has just a few of my crafting bargains.
There are some gorgeous fluffy wools to use with my embellishing machine and wonderful old lace for - er well- just cos I loved it- so now I will have to plan something to use it!!!
Also my new embellishing book, full of fab info and ideas, is sitting on top of my favourite crafty mags.

And then there is my little card that I made for a friend's new grandaughter. I made a little embellished picture on felt with silk, lace and yarns. Then I added a few hand stitches and beads and a little free- machined name and date silk patch. It looks good in my "Dunnit easel" doesn't it!!

Hope you are all having a great Wednesday - join in the WOYWW fun by following the link to Julia's blog.
Thanks for all your kind comments about my pheasant pic last week - its finished, framed and ready for the blog shop now. For those who don't know - just follow the poppy pic link on the top right hand side of my blog page to Sisters Crafty Creations. That's where my little crafty sister and I put all our crafty items for sale.
